OUR STORY
P&G Renovation was founded in 2017 by Pedro Mestre (President & Co-Founder) and Genesis Tumasello (Co-Founder & Director of Operations), the "P" and the "G" behind the name. We started small. Genesis ran operations and led the work on-site, project after project, while Pedro managed the projects and the clients. As the quality of our work spoke for itself, we grew. We added crews, supervisors, and the capacity to take on larger, more complex jobs.
We came to painting from construction, and we saw a gap. In the institutional market, painting was split between two kinds of contractors. Established firms relied on their years in business. Newer contractors weren't equipped for ICI work because they didn't understand how construction actually works. They didn't follow the specifications. They didn't ask what a coating was supposed to do, or what an older building needed before the first coat went on.
That is the problem P&G was built to solve.
Pedro holds a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Postgraduate Certificate in Project Management. He spent years as a project manager on construction projects valued at up to $30 million. That engineering mindset shapes how we approach every wall, floor, and ceiling. Painting isn't "just paint." It's a science: the right surface preparation, the right primer, the right product for the right environment, and an understanding of how new coatings will react with decades of existing paint. It's chemistry and process working together, and most people never see it.
Our first real test proved the point. A contractor had repainted Bowmanville Public School, a 110-year-old school in Bowmanville, without preparing the surfaces properly, and the paint was peeling throughout the building. A general contractor brought us in to fix it, and we did. Since then, we've built our reputation on the work others can't do: century-old schools, hospitals, complex epoxy floor systems, and every job that needs a contractor who understands the specifications and cares about getting them right.
To date, we've completed more than 500 projects across Ontario, including schools, healthcare facilities, and municipal buildings. We still run every job the same way: read the spec, prepare the surface properly, finish on time, and explain the process to the client along the way. Most people don't know the painting side of construction, and part of our job is helping them understand it.
Today, P&G Renovation is based in Newmarket and serves school boards, hospitals, municipalities, and general contractors across Ontario. We're fully WSIB-covered, carry $10M in Commercial General Liability insurance, and have $2M in bonding capacity.
