WHAT'S INCLUDED

INTERIOR PAINTING — WHAT ACTUALLY MATTERS
Interior painting looks simple from the outside: move the furniture, cut the edges, roll the walls. In practice, the difference between a repaint that still looks sharp in eight years and one that flashes, picture-frames or peels within a season is decided almost entirely before any finish coat is opened. P&G Renovation has been painting interiors across Newmarket, Aurora, Richmond Hill, Vaughan, Markham and the wider GTA since 2017, and our estimating process starts with substrate condition rather than square footage. We check whether the existing coating is latex or alkyd, whether the drywall has been skimmed or left at a level 3 finish, whether bathrooms and kitchens have surfactant leaching or mildew, and whether trim has been painted so many times that the profiles need sanding back before another coat goes on.
That assessment drives the specification. Fresh drywall gets a dedicated drywall primer-sealer so the paper and the compound absorb evenly and the finish sheen does not telegraph every joint. Previously painted alkyd trim gets de-glossed and bonded with a waterborne bonding primer instead of being coated directly, which is the single most common reason homeowner repaints peel off door casings in strips. Water-stained ceilings get a shellac or oil-based stain-blocking primer, because a stain sealed with latex will bleed back through within weeks. Nail pops, corner-bead cracks and settlement lines get cut out and re-taped rather than filled and hoped for.
Our crews work in a fixed sequence — ceilings, then walls, then trim and doors — so overspray and roller mist always land on a surface that has not yet received its finish coat. Everything that is not being painted is masked: floors with rosin paper or breathable canvas, cabinetry and counters with plastic and low-tack tape, hardware, switch plates and vents removed rather than cut around. Cut lines are brushed freehand by painters who do it every day, not taped, which is why our edges stay crisp and there is no bleed-back ridge along the ceiling line.
We paint occupied homes, occupied offices, tenanted apartments, schools during breaks and healthcare spaces during phased shutdowns, so low-odour and low-VOC product selection is standard rather than an upgrade. Most of our residential interior work uses zero-VOC or low-VOC acrylics that allow reoccupancy the same evening. For commercial and institutional interiors we move to scrubbable, disinfectant-tolerant coatings that survive daily cleaning protocols. Colour consultation is included: we can draw down large sample boards, view them under your actual lighting at different times of day, and match any existing colour by spectrophotometer so touch-ups blend invisibly.
Every interior project finishes the same way — a deficiency walk with you, punch-list touch-ups completed on the spot where possible, hardware and plates reinstalled, protection removed, floors vacuumed and wiped, and leftover paint labelled by room and sheen for your own future touch-ups. Our workmanship warranty covers peeling, blistering and premature failure attributable to application, and we return to make it right.

INTERIOR PAINTING — FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How long should I wait before moving furniture back after interior painting?
Modern acrylics are dry to touch in about an hour and recoatable in four, but they continue curing for two to four weeks. We move furniture back the same day and reinstall hardware, but we ask you to avoid pushing furniture hard against freshly painted walls or taping anything to them for at least a week.
Do you paint over wallpaper or does it have to come off?
Whenever possible it comes off. Painting over wallpaper traps the seams and adhesive under the film, and moisture in the paint often lifts the paper. If the wallpaper is fully bonded, previously painted and removal would destroy the drywall, we can seal it with an oil or shellac-based primer and skim the seams — we will tell you honestly which case yours is at the estimate.
Will you match a colour I already have if I no longer have the paint can?
Yes. We take a chip or use a spectrophotometer reading on site and have the colour matched at the supplier. It is worth noting that matched touch-ups on an aged wall can still flash slightly because the original coating has faded, so for a visible wall we usually recommend recoating corner to corner.
Can you work while our office or home is occupied?
Yes, and most of our interior work is done exactly that way. We phase by area, seal off active zones, use low-odour zero-VOC products and can schedule evenings or weekends for commercial spaces so nobody loses a working day.
